PRE-REG PRAIRIE DOG DOES NOT APPROVE [2011/04/18]

One more Sunday, one more blog post!

This week was slightly more interesting than last week (luckily for you, o reader), in that I actually went places other than my room, Usdan and the rehearsal space, and I actually did more than just work, practice, eat and sleep. (Notice what item comes last on that list. Oh, sleep, I miss you so. Let's catch up sometime after finals.)

What did I do, you may ask? Well, on Thursday I went to see my friend model in the Fashion Show, and on Friday I went to see another friend (and two cast mates) in the Opera & Oratorio Ensemble performance. Because I'm classy like that.

PSA and Recaps [2011/04/11]

First of all, I got an email from ResLife in my inbox today, asking me to put the following on my blog:
  • All students need to be registered for GRS by Monday, April 11, 2011 by 11:59 p.m. We cannot make any exceptions for students who register late. If you do not register by Monday, April 11, 2011 by 11:59 p.m., you will not be able to go through GRS and will be placed on a waitlist for an assignment over the summer.
So basically, if you're currently a Wesleyan student, will still be a Wesleyan student next year, will be on campus next semester, and have not already gotten your housing sorted out, GO REGISTER FOR GRS OR YOU WILL BE COMPLETELY SCREWED FOR HOUSING. You'll find "Room Selection" under "Student Life at Wesleyan" in your Portfolio... either follow the instructions or get someone who knows what they're doing to explain it to you.

Anyway! Now that that's out of the way, we can get on to the boring stuff. "But Sasha, wasn't that the boring stuff?" you may ask, to which I say, "Yes, if you're not a student yet or have already gotten your housing stuff out of the way. (Nothing about the looming threat of being screwed for housing is boring if you're actually in the danger zone.) But you also have not heard about just how dull my life has been this week."

No, literally. The main things I did this week were stress, work, procrastinate, eat and sleep. (And rehearse for Into The Woods, of course.)

To that end, in an attempt to pretend that my life is more interesting than it really is, I'm going to recap my week in the facebook statuses I would have written, had I actually had the time/inclination to create a bunch of facebook statuses this week.

The Perils of Planning [2011/04/04]

Happy Sunday! I spent this week alternating between rehearsal, procrastination, writing part of the script for a musical, more procrastination, and even a little homework at times. (Okay, I totally got my homework done, I promise. There just may or may not have been one or two... close calls.) I even managed to dig out enough time to go to Alpha Delt's black light party, watch several episodes of Buffy (so addictive—my GPA will regret this, I suspect), and to bake Irish soda bread today (truly, truly delicious. Be envious). The issue is that I have a short story due this Friday, and I'm having difficulty with, well, words. That ought to make this week interesting.

Also, there was sunlight this weekend! Here's hoping that this is the start of a general warming trend. It was nice to have a proper New England winter, especially considering last year's winter failure, but I'm definitely ready for the spring. Sunshine! Warmth! Shorts! Leaving my heavy coat in the closet! Flowers! Greenery! Seeing lots of shirtless people chilling on Foss Hill! The attractions are endless, I tell you.

Of course, the problem with the approach of spring is that it means I have to start worrying about the future, an activity I abhor. Getting summer jobs worked out, looking at classes for next semester (oh, Permission Of Instructor classes; I love you, I just hate applying for you), and thinking about housing.

Yeah, housing.

Feeling Off-Beat [2011/03/28]

I always forget how insane life feels right after returning from break. School has its own rhythm—classes, homework, friends, the occasional other random event—and then I go on break and without even realizing it, I’ve changed the rhythm completely. I don’t have a set time to get up, I can spend hours just reading (reading! For pleasure! It’s like a revelation or something!), I can lounge around the house and not do anything productive. Sometimes I barely even leave the house for a week. Actually, probably the only thing that stays the same is the amount of time I spend on the internet (a lot).

It’s easy to get used to that, in the way that it’s easy to get used to living a life where you have very few obligations, except whatever homework your professors have given you. Coming back, on the other hand…
